George Hardy is a devoted shepherd in a peaceful English village, happiest when he is in his meadow reading murder mysteries aloud to his sheep. The flock secretly understands every word and spends nights arguing over clues. When George is discovered dead in his field, the animals are sure it is murder and decide to investigate themselves. Their search for answers pushes them beyond the safety of the farm into a complicated human world of police, neighbors, and hidden motives, blending cozy whodunnit intrigue with warm, offbeat humor and heartfelt moments.
