The Room Next Door

Ingrid, a celebrated novelist living in New York, discovers at a book event that Martha, the war correspondent she once worked with at a magazine and drifted away from, is seriously ill. Their sudden reunion pulls them into days filled with hospital visits, an upstate escape, and late-night conversations about love, regret, and the stories they never wrote. As they revisit old jokes and watch Buster Keaton films, the film balances sharp humor with quiet sorrow, exploring how two women face mortality and repair a complicated friendship with honesty, tenderness, and a touch of mischief.
