A disillusioned British teacher takes a job at an elite boys school in Buenos Aires in 1976, hoping for an easy escape from his past. On a trip to Uruguay he finds a beach of oil-soaked penguins and saves one stubborn survivor, naming him Juan Salvador. Bringing the bird back to the school turns the campus upside down, as the unexpected roommate disrupts strict routines and reaches wary students in ways lessons never could. With Argentina on the brink of a military coup, the film mixes gentle humor, political unease and tender moments of connection, following a man whose bond with a penguin slowly opens him up to responsibility and empathy.
