Set in 1995 Mississippi, a struggling funeral home owner, Jeremiah O'Keefe, hires flamboyant personal injury lawyer Willie Gary to sue the Loewen Group, a huge funeral company, over a broken business deal. Their courtroom battle digs into race, money, and power in the death care industry while balancing sharp legal drama with warm, often funny character moments. The story focuses on the unlikely bond between the quiet small-town boss and his showy attorney as they try to protect a family legacy against corporate bullying.
