In 1930s Seattle, a group of scrappy University of Washington students join the campus rowing team as a way to stay in school during the Great Depression. Guided by demanding coach Al Ulbrickson and calm boatbuilder George Pocock, they learn to pull together in a fragile shell and challenge wealthier East Coast crews. The story follows their long, cold practices, crowded bunkhouses, and quiet moments on the water as they chase a spot at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, blending underdog grit with a warm, old-fashioned sports drama tone.
