In 1990s Wisconsin, Vietnam vet and mechanic Mike meets hairdresser and singer Claire at a small impersonator gig, and together they create the Neil Diamond tribute act Lightning and Thunder. As their band grows from scruffy local shows to bigger stages, they juggle blended family chaos, bills, and backstage doubts. The film blends musical joy with blue-collar struggle, showing how these two stubborn dreamers use sequins, power ballads, and stubborn love to face heartbreak without losing their sense of humor or hope.
