Tova Sullivan, a seventy-year-old widow, works the night shift cleaning a quiet aquarium in a seaside town, where her closest companion is Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus with a sharp, observant mind. When Cameron, a drifting thirty-something searching for family, arrives to fill in after Tova is injured, their uneasy partnership grows into an unexpected connection watched from the tank by their eight-armed witness. The tone is gentle and slightly whimsical, mixing soft humor, grief, and small-town routine as these three unlikely souls find comfort, curiosity, and a cautious sense of wonder in each other’s presence.
