Past Lives

In Seoul, grade-schoolers Nora and Hae Sung share an easy, budding bond before her family emigrates, breaking their quiet first crush. Years later she is a playwright in New York, married to a thoughtful novelist, Arthur. When Hae Sung visits the city after years of online calls and missed chances, old feelings surface in the space between languages, cultures, and timelines. The film moves gently through city streets, bars, and small apartments, focusing on hushed conversations rather than big gestures. It explores destiny, the Korean idea of connections across lifetimes, and the bittersweet question of who we might have become with another path.
