Nyad

The film follows legendary long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad as she comes out of retirement in her sixties to attempt a nonstop 110 mile swim from Cuba to Florida. With her blunt, loyal best friend Bonnie as coach and a small crew on a support boat, she trains, plans, and fights through waves, jellyfish, and crushing fatigue. The story focuses on stubborn ambition, aging, and the strain and strength of friendship, keeping the tension close to the water while staying warm, funny, and human rather than glossy or sentimental.
