Jerry Selbee, a recently retired factory worker with a gift for math, discovers a quirk in a state lottery game that lets him reliably profit by buying huge batches of tickets. With his wife Marge, he turns this odd hobby into a community project, using their winnings to help their struggling Michigan town and reconnect with friends and family. The story follows their late-in-life adventure as it grows bigger than they expected, mixing gentle humor, small-town warmth, and the question of how far ordinary people can push the rules without losing their sense of right and wrong.
