Seydou and Moussa are teenage cousins in Dakar who dream of leaving their crowded homes to become music stars and earn money for their families in Europe. Against their mother's wishes and local warnings, they slip away at night and join the long route north. The film follows them through smugglers, corrupt guards, harsh checkpoints, the burning Sahara desert and a brutal detention camp, then onto unsafe boats across the Mediterranean. Told from the boys' view, it feels like an emotional, tense odyssey about hope, friendship and the high human cost of migration.
