On the remote Viking isle of Berk, inventive but overlooked Hiccup struggles to fit into a culture that sees dragons only as deadly enemies. When he secretly befriends Toothless, a powerful Night Fury, his world opens up as he discovers these creatures are far more than monsters from old stories. With fierce trainee warrior Astrid and gruff blacksmith Gobber watching his every move, Hiccup must balance loyalty to his father Stoick with his growing bond to Toothless. The film mixes high-flying adventure, rough-edged humor, and warm, hopeful moments as an emerging threat pushes Vikings and dragons toward a fragile new understanding.
