Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio

In 1930s Italy, a lonely woodcarver mourning his son carves a rough wooden child during a night of despair, and a mysterious spirit grants the puppet life. The boy is impulsive, curious, and loud, watched over by a chatty cricket living in his chest. As the living puppet tests his new world, he collides with strict villagers, a harsh local official, traveling performers, and the rising shadow of war. The tone blends dark fairy tale elements, stop-motion wonder, and musical moments, turning a familiar story into a heartfelt look at grief, faith, and the messy, often painful process of growing up.
