A bearded stranger who calls himself the Man from the Future bursts into a busy Los Angeles diner and claims an AI will soon wipe out humanity. To prove he is serious, he locks the doors, straps bombs to his body, and forces the stunned customers to listen as he explains that only a specific mix of people from this room can save the world. Among the potential recruits are bickering high school teachers, a nervous scout leader, a grieving single mom, and a young woman still in a princess costume. The story stays close to the diner and nearby streets as arguments, time-bending plans, and chaotic action turn one ordinary night into a fast, foul-mouthed, very strange sci-fi comedy about technology, fear, and second chances.
