A Russian ship trapped in Arctic ice rescues exhausted scientist Victor Frankenstein, who begins to tell how his obsession with defeating death led him to build a living creature from battlefield corpses. Raised by a cold, abusive doctor father and driven by grief for his mother, he finds backing from ruthless businessman Henrich Harlander and grows closer to Elizabeth, his uncle's niece. The story mixes gothic horror with emotional drama, following both creator and creation as their choices spark dread, pity, and a slow, haunting sense of doom.
