Cabrini

In this biographical drama, Italian missionary nun Francesca Cabrini travels from Italy to New York in 1889 to help abandoned Italian immigrants in the brutal Five Points slum. Faced with disease, crime, impoverished children, sexism, and open anti-Italian prejudice, she struggles with her own fragile health and broken English while pushing city leaders, including a hostile mayor, to support housing and healthcare for the people everyone else ignores. The tone is grounded and emotional, mixing harsh street reality with moments of quiet courage, stubborn faith, and unexpected tenderness as her small community of sisters slowly builds a sense of hope.
