In roaring 1920s Hollywood, an idealistic Mexican assistant Manny Torres is pulled into a world of oversized dreams, wild parties and chaotic film shoots. He crosses paths with fearless actress Nelly LaRoy, aging star Jack Conrad, jazz musician Sidney Palmer and others as the movie business races from silent films to sound. Their lives collide in a storm of ambition, excess and shifting power, where success feels thrilling but fragile, and the tone swings from outrageous comedy to bruising drama without ever giving easy answers.
