In the early 1960s, a 19-year-old Bob Dylan hitchhikes from Minnesota to Greenwich Village, haunted by the voice of his hero Woody Guthrie and drawn into the crowded coffeehouses of the folk scene. Surrounded by figures like Pete Seeger and Joan Baez and a young activist named Sylvie, he writes fiercely personal protest songs while America roils with marches and upheaval. As success comes fast and fans try to pin him down as their spokesman, the story follows his restless search for a new sound, mixing tender relationships with tense backstage moments and charged, music-driven performances.
